Several factors encourage the emergence of IMDs, a new generation of communication devices that surpass the simple notion of integration within complex supports, miniaturised and ultra-lightweight, thanks to microelectronics and nanotechnologies:

• ever-increasing multiprotocol/multilingual interactivity
